My Home.

Some say that a house is your home. To me, a house is just that. A house. It remains that way until you fill it with the people you love and the items you keep for sentimentality. To me, home is a few things. Home is:

My Mum.

My mum is a beautiful lady. She’s tough, strong, brave, and wise. She’s my inspiration, a fighter, and a fearless leader. She’s the one I turn to when things get dark and the one who truly accepts me for who I am. My mum along with my dad encouraged me to be all that I could be and raised me almost as if I weren’t blind at all. They taught me how to be independent and my mum has supported that for as long as I can remember. Like any family, we have had our rough patches but those have brought us closer together. Without my mum, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It is because of her that I have experienced things I never would have and learned a lot about life. I love our jokes, our serious talks and how sometimes we annoy the life out of each other. I love her humour, her wisdom, her bad singing, her creativity, and her cooking. I love her because she’s my mum. I love you mum.

We have lived in the same house for nearly 20 years. Whenever things have gone wrong in my life, I have come back to this place and to the arms of my family. I know that no matter what time of day it is, I can always come home.

Our dogs.

These two lovable dogs are always near one of us. They take up most if not all the room in my bed like this picture and cheer me up when I’m sad. These guys are more than just pets, they’re family.

My friends.

I have some amazing friends both online and offline. We have our troubles, but they are always there if I need a laugh. Though often it’s me making them laugh instead with the weird things I say. I wouldn’t trade these people for anything in the world. Most of the people I speak of do not live in the same country yet the fact that we are able to remain friends and laugh together through varying time zones just makes everything extra special.

An amazing someone.

There are not enough words to describe how lucky I am to have this person in my life. We have been through some tough times yet still have each other. I love the conversations we have, the time we spend together and the happiness they make me feel. It’s been nearly 3 years and I hope those three years turn into forever.
I think I’m blessed to be surrounded by the people and creatures that surround me. There are many other things that I could have mentioned in this post, but these are the most important things to me.
